How to Care for and Cultivate Echeveria agavoides 'Corderoyi'

The Echeveria agavoides 'Corderoyi' is a perennial succulent plant in the Crassulaceae family and is one of the popular varieties of the Dongyun series. It grows to a height of 8-12 centimeters, with leaves densely arranged in a lotus-like pattern, measuring 7-15 centimeters in diameter. The leaves are triangular, ovate, green, and fleshy (about 0.6 centimeters thick), with a prominent keel on the back and a sharp purple-red tip spreading down along the leaf margin. The small flowers are orange-red, with a five-lobed corolla, slightly yellow at the front, and slightly outwardly turned, blooming in spring.

The Echeveria agavoides 'Corderoyi' requires ample sunlight and a cool, dry environment, tolerating partial shade but avoiding waterlogging and humid conditions. It exhibits a growth habit during the cool season and goes dormant in hot summers. During the growing season, it can be generously watered, but prolonged wetness and waterlogging should be avoided. During hot summers, growth may slow down or cease altogether, so it's essential to provide good ventilation and partial shade to prevent sunburn, moderate watering, and avoid rainwater.

In regions where the temperature is above 5°C in winter, normal watering can be provided. Below 5°C, watering should gradually cease. The Echeveria agavoides 'Corderoyi' can tolerate temperatures of around -4°C in the absence of water in winter, but if the temperature drops further, frostbite may occur at the tips of the leaves, leading to desiccation and death.

Care:

Adaptation to Environment: The Echeveria agavoides 'Corderoyi' requires ample sunlight and a cool, dry environment, tolerates partial shade but avoids waterlogging and humid conditions.

Adequate Sunlight: Spring and autumn are the growth seasons for Echeveria agavoides 'Corderoyi'. Insufficient sunlight may cause the plant's leaves to elongate, and the red coloration on the leaf margin may fade gradually. Plants grown in areas with abundant sunlight will have a stout appearance, with compactly arranged leaves.

Watering Principles: During the growing season, Echeveria agavoides 'Corderoyi' can be generously watered, but prolonged wetness and waterlogging should be avoided. During hot summers, when growth slows or stops altogether, provide good ventilation and partial shade to prevent sunburn, moderate watering, and avoid rainwater. In regions where the temperature is above 5°C in winter, normal watering can be provided.

Temperature Control: Watering should gradually cease when the temperature drops below 5°C. Echeveria agavoides 'Corderoyi' can tolerate temperatures of around -4°C indoors in winter. If the temperature drops further, frostbite may occur at the tips of the leaves, leading to desiccation and death.

Quantified Fertilization: Echeveria agavoides 'Corderoyi' does not require high levels of fertilizer or nutrients in winter. A small amount of fertilizer can be applied appropriately, but fertilization should be stopped if the temperature drops too low.
